StepStrong for Parkinson’s Walk Brings Community Together on May 17

The YMCA of Greater Springfield invites the community to take part in StepStrong for Parkinson’s, a new community walk dedicated to supporting individuals living with Parkinson’s through specialized health and wellness programming.

The event will take place on Sunday, May 17 at the Scantic Valley YMCA and will feature both a half-mile and one-mile walk, along with music, games, and food trucks for participants of all ages.

StepStrong for Parkinson’s directly benefits the YMCA’s Parkinson’s Power Program, which helps individuals build strength, improve mobility, and foster meaningful connections through targeted exercise and support. This evidence-based program is designed to empower participants to live stronger, more confident lives.

“StepStrong is about more than just a walk—it’s about community, connection, and showing support for those navigating Parkinson’s,” said Dawn Lapierre, Scantic Valley YMCA Healthy Living Director.  “Every step taken helps expand access that truly make a difference.”

Participants, families, and community members are encouraged to register in advance and join in this impactful day of movement and support.
